Filming a music therapy session
When I was a student, I volunteered for Music24. It’s a charity that runs music therapy sessions for the community. I saw the importance of the work that they do and the effects of such activities. Music24 help vulnerable people and their carers and after many years I managed to give something back - a piece of film.
We visited David and Rosemary in their home - Teela and Graeme brought their piano, lots of percussion and music sheets. Graeme starts to play a jazzy tune and the session begins.
Once it’s done, I have a chance to speak with Rosie. She is such a lovely person and I learnt that she is an artist herself - her home is full of little statues and paintings that she created. She also tells me about what it means to have music in her and David’s lives.
I am hoping to make many more films for Music24 as I am a huge fan of their dedication and talent. It makes a real difference to people’s lives and I am extremely thankful for having this friendship.
